Sand Springs Man Dies In Mayes County Crash

A Sand Springs man who was driving a box truck was killed east of Spavinaw on Oklahoma 20 early Friday.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Samuel Hurtubise, 38, was eastbound and failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree at the right of the roadway.

A collision report says Hurtubise was pinned for 17 minutes before he was freed with the Jaws of Life. He died at a Mayes County hospital.

The report says Hurtubise was wearing a seatbelt and the weather was foggy, although the official cause of the crash and the condition of the driver is under investigation.
