A Connors State College basketball player was found dead in her dorm room about noon on Friday, according to the school's president.
Sherrell McHenry was a 20-year-old freshmen whose hometown is Haskell.
"We are working closely with law enforcement whose initial findings show no suspicion of foul play. The immediate family has been notified," Connors State president Tim Faltyn said.
"Sherrell's body has been removed from campus. Grief counseling has been made available to students, faculty and staff. As soon as we are made aware of any funeral arrangements we will disseminate the information."
Eddie Kite, who recently resigned as coach, was reportedly on campus when McHenry's body was found.
"She had been under the weather and our assistant coach had given her a couple of days off," Kite told the Muskogee Phoenix. "It was my understanding she was supposed to have gone to the doctor (Friday).
"We have no answers as to what caused it. It's just sad. She was getting excited about her sophomore year. It took her a while to get acclimated to the college game. She was good in the classroom and a good kid. She could have been a manager instead of a basketball player and made our team better just from her attitude."
