Haskell County Jail Escapee Recaptured In Sallisaw

Authorities say an escapee from the Haskell County jail was recaptured in Sequoyah County early Monday.

Sallisaw Police arrested a man who escaped from the Haskell County jail last week.

The Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office said Sallisaw Police arrested Edward Branch after someone called saying they saw him walking along I-40 Monday morning.

Branch broke out of the Haskell County jail in Stigler on April 21, 2014.

Haskell County deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol had been searching for Branch from Stigler to Keota ever since.

Branch was in jail on a complaint of robbing an elderly woman.
