Sand Springs To Begin Storm Warning Siren Testing In April

Starting next month, weather permitting; the City of Sand Springs will be testing its storm warning siren system on the first Wednesday of the month. Officials say the monthly tests provide a way for the city to make sure the sirens are working properly.

In a news release, Sand Springs said the "Warning sirens are intended to alert people who are outdoors of approaching dangerous weather. Although the sirens can often be heard indoors, their purpose is to provide outdoor alerts where people may not have immediate access to critical weather information."

The first test will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014.
