Tulsa Police are investigating after the bodies of two people were found at a home near 9th and Richmond.
Police say a note was left on the mailbox asking the mailman to call police because the couple had killed themselves. Initially, police thought it was a murder-suicide but now officers say they believe it was a double suicide.
Police say there were no signs of struggle and there were notes from both people.
Officers told us they found a man and woman in their 50s or 60s with gunshot wounds in a bedroom of the home. The woman's sister just told us the woman and her husband were separated but were still friends.
She said within the past year her sister had become reclusive and was dealing with many life stresses. Neighbors say they'd noticed something seemed wrong earlier in the week.
"We'd seen his car and there was silver duct tape wrapped around the exhaust pipe, and there was like a dryer vent attached to it. It came around the right side of the car, and he thought, that's really strange."
Police believe the shooting happened within the past 24 hours. They are working to get in touch with all members of the couple's families.
Animal Control removed a dog from the home Tuesday afternoon.
So far police have not released the couple's names.
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services says if you or someone you know is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (8255). The Lifeline is answered by Oklahomans for Oklahomans.
