Wagoner County District Attorney Seeks Tips For 2006 Murder Case

A cold case that shocked Green Country in 2006, is now reopened, and the Wagoner County District Attorney is asking the public for tips in the death of Broken Arrow teenager Jarret Clark.

Investigators have long suspected foul play, but no one has ever been arrested. They've reopened the case and hope this new call for tips will give them some fresh leads.

It's been nearly eight years since Clark died, but family, friends and even neighbors have held out hope there would someday be justice for him. They hope that time is now.

"We had a 19th birthday party for him and had friends and family over," Clark's mother Tammy Slater said.

Tammy and Eric Slater still feel the pain of their son's death, as if it happened yesterday.

"He was our world then, and he's pretty much our world now, through photos," Tammy said.

Clark was 18 years old when he died, and to say that he was this couple's pride and joy would be a tremendous understatement.

"He was a good kid. He was a character, had a little bit of Jim Carey in him. He was funny, made us laugh. He was a happy baby, a happy kid," Tammy said.

Clark had just graduated from high school in May 2006 when he went to Fort Gibson Lake with some friends. After a four-day search, his body was found in the lake.

The Medical Examiner said Clark drowned. But investigators concluded Clark got involved in a fight the last night he was seen alive; and many people believe he was actually murdered.

Recently Wagoner County investigators reopened the case ,and now District Attorney Brian Kuester is asking the public for tips about Clark's death, even after all these years.

"I think that any time someone has died in a way that is suspicious I don't think we can just lay that to rest. I think we owe it to the community, I think we owe it to the family, and I think it's what we're here to do," Kuester said.

The Slaters believe it's time for justice for their son.

"Every parent who loses a child to murder, to the actions of someone else, that child, your son, your daughter, they deserve justice. They deserve justice," Tammy Slater said.
