Sapulpa and Tulsa Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4400 West 56 Street.
Firefighters worked to keep a burning abandoned home from catching an entire neighborhood on fire.
Crews were first called out around 6 p.m. Witness Sam Guffey said he was having dinner when he heard the sirens.
"I could see the flames from my house which is probably about two, three blocks. Flames was high as the tree tops," said Guffey said.
The flames were so intense firefighters took the defensive, working to contain the fire to just one home.
Sapulpa Fire Captain Darren Kragel said crews had to work to keep sparks from flying to the dry debris. No one was injured.
"We came in, and it was a vacant house. It's been vacant for about 20 years," he said.
The fire started in the back of the house, Kragel told News On 6. He said there were signs that homeless people had been using the vacant structure.
They had not determined the cause of the fire Friday night.
