The flu is going around and it can hit hard and fast and it can be deadly.
But, it's not the only thing going around Green Country.
A Nurse Practitioner with the Muscogee Creek Nation's Okmulgee Clinic says they're seeing a lot of upper respiratory infections, better known as the common cold.
Kim Hicks Jenkins says you'll want to look out for the usual symptoms, the stuffy, runny noses, sneezing, mild fevers, headaches and sore throats.
It is contagious, so be careful who you're around and what you touch. The best defense is washing your hands often. There is no cure and antibiotics won't help. But, doctors may be able to give you something to help with the symptoms.
The cold can turn into something more serious, including pneumonia and sinus infections.
You definitely want to see your doctor if you have trouble swallowing, symptoms lasting longer than two weeks are really severe, or you have problems breathing.
