Tulsa Police: Crash Prevents Car From Entering Highway In Wrong Direction

Tulsa Police believe a crash at 71st and Highway 169 stopped a driver from getting onto the highway in the wrong direction Wednesday.

Officers said a truck heading east on 71st Street struck the passenger's side of a Honda making a left turn at the intersection just after midnight.

Police said the Honda was turning onto the exit ramp from 169 and would have been going the wrong way onto the highway had the crash not happened.

The woman behind the wheel told officers she was driving because the car's owner, who was a passenger, was intoxicated. She said he told her to turn so she did. Police said the woman wasn't injured, but the passenger was. EMSA took him to a Tulsa hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
