An Oologah teen is in the Washington County jail on a $1 million bond accused of running out of the Bartlesville courthouse November 22 and leading police on a chase.

A probable cause affidavit said William Pierce, 19, had just been sentenced in a criminal case when he ran out of the courtroom.

Bartlesville Police said Pierce got into his girlfriend's 2003 Honda Civic and sped off.

The affidavit says a police officer spotted the Civic and began chasing it. Police say the chase had reached speeds of 80 mph when Pierce drove onto the golf course at Hillcrest Country Club and the officer lost sight of his car.

Police said a short time later Pierce's car ran a road block just off Highway 75 and crashed in a grocery store parking lot.

Police said Pierce ran off but officers arrested him in a nearby neighborhood.

Officers said Pierce was taken to the hospital to be treated for a broken nose and other injuries before he was booked into jail.

Court records show Pierce is charged with eluding, running a road block, damaging private property and not having a valid driver's license or insurance verification.

His next court hearing is set for December 20.
