The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was on the scene Sunday a few miles away where deer hunters found skeletal human remains in Latimer County.

OSBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Gary Perkinson told News On 6 it will be a while before positive identification is made, but they appear to be partial remains of three people.

According to Perkinson, the remains were found a few miles south of Kinta, near Red Oak, where a vehicle belonging to a couple and their 6-year-old daughter was found abandoned in 2009.

Bobby Jamison, his wife, Sherilynn, and their daughter, Madyson, were last seen October 9, 2009, near Red Oak. Eight days later, their truck was found by hunters. Inside the truck was a small dog, barely alive, and the couple's IDs, wallets and a substantial amount of cash.

"It didn't look like to me that they got out and walked, it just looked like they got out and that was it," Latimer County Sheriff Beauchamp said in 2009. "They didn't take their coats; it was kind of cold that day."

The couple reportedly had been out looking at land to purchase.

The terrain in the area is very rugged and mountainous, which made searching for the Jamisons difficult. At the time of the disappearances, more than 100 men and women, horses, a helicopter and a plane scoured the area.

The Jamison family has been contacted by authorities, a spokesperson posted on Facebook.

OSBI says it will be some time before DNA tests can confirm if the remains are those of the Jamison family or if they belong to others, which would unlock another mystery.
