Days after a deadly plane crash, family and friends mourn the son of Senator Jim Inhofe.

Hundreds packed a downtown Tulsa church to remember Dr. Perry Inhofe, an accomplished local surgeon.

Family and friends gathered at the First Presbyterian Church to honor and remember him.

Dr. Inhofe is the son of Senator Jim Inhofe but was well known in his own right as a talented orthopedic surgeon who specialized in hand surgery.

He died Sunday, when the plane he was flying crashed near Owasso. Witnesses say one of the airplane's engines was not working and the plane was circling before it crashed in the woods.

The NTSB is investigating and is not expected to have a final report for several months.

Senator Inhofe became emotional as he spoke to those gathered at his son's memorial service. He talked about his son's strong faith, something that was evident even when he was a boy.

The senator also told mourners that his son was driven to be the best at everything he did, that second place was not good enough. That drive took him to the top of his class in college and helped him become one of Tulsa's best orthopedic surgeons.

Senator Inhofe said the service wasn't a goodbye to his son and closed by saying, "So long, Perry, we'll see you soon."

The Inhofe family has asked anyone who wishes to honor Dr. Inhofe make a donation in his name to the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation.
