A Tulsa man is in police custody after burglarizing a home, stealing weapons and hiding out from authorities for about five hours on Saturday.
A Tulsa Police spokesperson told News On 6 a woman returned home about 3:30 p.m. and discovered a relative had entered her home without permission.
According to the woman, Jeremiah Kirk Seals, 25, stole guns and ammunition and ran outside toward a barn south of the home, which is near West 8th Avenue and Charles Page Boulevard.
When they arrived, police found a gun and ammo on the nearby levee.
At 8 p.m., authorities still had the barn under surveillance and said they were approaching it with caution because they believed Seals may have been inside with a long-range rifle in his possession. A short time later, they received information Seals was in another location close to the home, TPD said.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Earlier this year, Seals was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a controlled drug, which are misdemeanors.
He currently has a pending felony case in Tulsa County for uttering a forged instrument and possession of debit/credit card belonging to another in February. In June, police say he eluded an officer and was driving without a license, both misdemeanors. That case also is pending.
In August, a jailer says Seals had homemade alcohol in his jail cell. Felony assault with a deadly weapon charges from January were dismissed against him in April.
