A man and woman on a motorcycle are in serious to critical condition after being hit by a Tulsa police car Saturday morning, according to EMSA spokesperson Kelli Bruer.
The officer-involved wreck happened at 116th and South Delaware in south Tulsa. The patrol car was turning left into Scissortail Neighborhood when it struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to Tulsa Police.
The officer was en route to an alarm call when the crash took place, according to Captain Cathy Reynolds.
"The officer was southbound on South Delaware to go east into the housing addition here at 116th, and the motorcycle was going northbound on South Delaware," Reynolds said.
The impact nearly tore the driver's side front wheel from the car.
Reynolds said traffic investigators were responding to the scene. She said the intersection is not known to have wrecks as there is not a great deal of traffic in the area.
The officer was also taken to a Tulsa hospital as a precautionary measure, according to Tulsa police.
EMSA later confirmed that both people on the motorcycles were 43 years of age.
Reynolds said she did not know if the motorcyclist and passenger were wearing helmets.
