A driver involved in a crash on the Broken Arrow Expressway early Thursday lost one leg and may lose the other, according to Tulsa Police.

The crash occurred near 15th Street at about 2 a.m.

Police said the SUV was westbound when the driver lost control. The SUV hit one guardrail, then spun around and hit a second guardrail. Police say the impact drove the guardrail through the SUV's door into the driver's legs.

Police said one leg was amputated by the guardrail.

A woman who lives in a nearby apartment heard the crash and went to help.

"I looked into the window and he was asking for help and he's holding his leg. He's bleeding, he was like, I can't feel my legs and he's like his legs were numb," said Danyshia Sears.

Police are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
