For the first time since 2007, the Oral Roberts University men's soccer team walked off the pitch victorious over Missouri State as the Golden Eagles defeated the Bears on Wednesday evening, 1-0.

After a slow start to the season, the Golden Eagles (2-4-1) are now unbeaten in their last three matches, a feat ORU hadn't achieved since the 2010 season. ORU handed MSU just its second loss of the season as they fell to 4-2-1 overall.

It was a defensive battle most of the contest as only 15 total shots were taken with MSU holding a 9-4 advantage. However, the Golden Eagles controlled the ball much of the second half and took advantage of an opportunity in the 57th minute.

Johnny Chavez made a great pass to Edgardo Mira who had no trouble with the finish for the lone goal in the match. The goal was Mira's second of the season while Chavez earned his first assist.

Ben LaCourse recorded his second shutout this season to bring his record to 2-4-1, picking up four saves in the match.

Trevor Spangenberg took the loss between the posts as he fell to 4-2-1.

The Golden Eagles return home on Saturday night as they are set to face Fort Wayne in the Summit League opener. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex.
