Tulsa's Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology won a big contract with the U.S. Air Force.
The company announced the $12 million deal Wednesday morning.
Spartan will provide flight and maintenance training on some of the same kinds of aircrafts used by the military in Afghanistan. The Air Force Air Advisor program then takes that knowledge and uses it to train the Afghanis.
"Spartan has done this for a number of years. We look at this as a mission, more than a contract, and we're very proud to do this," said Spartan CEO and President Jeremy Gibson.
The first classes started Wednesday.
