The Oral Roberts University men's indoor track & field team was honored with the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) All-Sports trophy, it was announced today. ORU won the award by being the top DI-AAA finisher at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship meet in March.
ORU finished tied for 25th in the NCAA Indoor meet and was the only DI-AAA school to finish in the top-30. This is the second consecutive season that Joe Dial's team has won the DI-AAA ADA award for men's indoor track.
The Golden Eagles finished tied for 20th at the NCAA Outdoor meet last season, finishing just five spots behind UNC Greensboro for the top DI-AAA spot in that competition.
Three ORU student-athletes were named track & field All-Americans in 2013: Jack Whitt (pole vault), Morrie Turner (long jump) and Jeffery Gibson (400m hurdles).
Now in its 12th year, the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association's mission is to enhance initiatives common to its Division I-AAA membership (the 98 Division I institutions that do not sponsor football).
