The Greater Tulsa Association of Realtors is giving back to the community by helping children start the upcoming school year off right.
The group spent Thursday morning boxing up back-to-school basics for more than 350 deserving students. Each child will get a backpack filled with supplies and a new outfit for the first day of school.
The realtors spent months collecting the $18,000 needed to buy everything.
The association is planning a pizza party to hand out the backpacks, which are customized for each child.
"It's everything they've chosen as far as what size or color they need. It's a brand new pair of shoes. A lot of these kids have never had anything new, so it's like Christmas morning for them to get this backpack," said Shelley Carson.
The realtors association has helped 1,500 children over the past seven years.
