Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says a jealous boyfriend attacked a woman with a hammer early Saturday morning. Stuart Joseph Palmer was arrested on a complaint of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Palmer came home to the 5300 block of West 1st Street at about 5 a.m. and accused his girlfriend of having sex with her ex-husband, according to an arrest report. The couple argued, and Palmer started flipping over tables and kicking in doors, the report states.

Deputies say the 39-year-old man kept the woman trapped in the kitchen and picked up a hammer at one point.

"She finally got away to exit the room and Palmer threw the hammer hitting her in the right hand," the report states. The woman managed to get out of the house and called police from a neighbor's residence.

Authorities say they found Palmer as he ran from the house and took him into custody. When they went into the house, deputies found a shattered, overturned glass-top coffee table, a wooden door smashed in two and blood on the floor and around a door knob.

They also found a wooden handled claw hammer.

The injured woman had a bloody right hand with a "golf ball-sized knot," the officer said. She told officers her mother would take her to the emergency room for treatment.

Palmer is currently in the Tulsa County Jail. There was no bond listed for him Saturday evening.
