Authorities captured an inmate Sunday who escaped last week from a minimum security prison in LeFlore County.

LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seale said Curtis Gibson was recognized by someone as he was going through a trash dumpster in Summerfield, Oklahoma.

By the time sheriff's deputies had arrived, Gibson had run into a nearby wooded area.

Once located, Seale told KFSM TV, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, Gibson was taken to a hospital to be checked out for dehydration.

"He was drinking out of streams or wherever he could find water. Evidently, he wasn't finding much because he was pretty dehydrated," said Sheriff Rob Seale.

Gibson escaped from the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen on July 1.

Summerfield is an unincorporated area west of Lake Wister.
