Bridge rehabilitation and inspection projects are expected to cause some delays for Tulsa drivers on busy Tulsa highways through the weekend and into early next week.
Friday evening, the two left lanes of north and southbound Highway 169, and the two left lanes of east and westbound Broken Arrow Expressway were closed.
Also, the eastbound 51 off-ramp to northbound Highway 169 was shut down, as will the westbound BA off-ramp to southbound 169.
This phase of the bridge rehabilitation project will last until 5 a.m. Monday, so expect big delays this weekend.
The whole project, estimated to cost $1.5 million, will be finished in early fall.
"As this is one of our busiest interchanges - roughly 118,000 vehicles per day - work is taking place mostly on nights and weekends," said Kenna Carmon, ODOT Public Relations Division.
"We are urging drivers to avoid the area if possible, as there will be delays on both U.S. 169 and the BA."
Crews will be inspecting the 71st Street Bridge over the Arkansas River, which means the outside eastbound lane will be closed next week.
On Tuesday, workers will inspect the 21st Street bridge, closing the outside westbound lane. And the outside westbound lane on the 11th Street bridge will be closed Wednesday, while crews inspect it.
