Broken Arrow Police Department's junior academy has been going on all week.

Sixteen kids between the ages of 12 and 17 are learning what its really like to be a police officer.

The kids have gotten to do a lot of cool stuff, like learning how to search a building and using a driving simulator.

It's a real eye-opener for the students.

"It's nice to see what they do, and we certainly appreciate their work for the community," said 10th grander Leland Chamberlin.

The department hopes the kids will share their experience with friends, and let them know officers, first and foremost, are here to help.
