Tulsa's 2012 football team will be honored with a Team Recognition Award at the 37th Annual March of Dimes Sports Headliner Awards Banquet Thursday night at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
The Hurricane won the school's second Conference USA Football Championship in the past eight years and won the 2012 AutoZone Liberty Bowl en route to posting a school record-tying 11 victories.
In addition to Tulsa, other Team Recognition Awards will be presented to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Oklahoma City Barons and the OSU Women's Basketball team. The Headliner of the Year Award goes to former OU and current Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
Tulsa opens the 2013 season on August 29 in Ohio against the Bowling Green Falcons. Game time has been set for 6 p.m. (CST). The Hurricane will kick-off the home season on Sept. 7 against the Colorado State Rams with at 6 p.m.
