Wrong-Way Tulsa Driver Misses Hitting Police Car, Crashes Into Pole

A man is in jail after almost colliding with a Tulsa Public Schools police car, driving the wrong way and smashing into a pedestrian light pole.

About 12:30 a.m. Friday, police said a man left the Fontana Shopping Center going north in the southbound lanes of Memorial Road.

The driver nearly hit a TPS officer head-on.

The TPS officer followed the driver west on 41st Street, then south on 74th East Avenue. The man made a U-turn and hit the curb and pedestrian pole.

He was held at the scene until Tulsa police arrived.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
