A Checotah woman is in jail, accused of assaulting a paramedic who was trying to treat her in the parking lot of a Sand Springs Quik Trip.

According to the arrest report, EMSA was called to the Quik Trip around 2 a.m. Sunday morning to help a woman possibly having a seizure. The paramedic reported finding Rachel Carson, 28, there in the passenger seat of a pickup truck.

The paramedic reported Carson didn't appear to be having a seizure, but did admit to drinking earlier that evening.

After denying taking any other drugs, Carson reportedly told the paramedic she wanted to punch him. The report states the paramedic told her "that would not be a good idea and that she would go to jail if she did, because it was a felony."

The paramedic continued to assess Carson and told her he thought she was having an anxiety attack, the report shows. Carson's husband, who was sitting in the driver's seat and insisted on taking her to the hospital himself. When the paramedic told him they had to do some paperwork before they could leave, the paramedic said Carson swung at him through the passenger side window, punching him in the side of the face.

Another ambulance came and transported Carson to OSU Medical Center, where she was checked out before being booked into Tulsa County jail on a complaint of assault and battery upon an emergency medical care provider. Her bond was set at $5,000.
