A Norman man was killed after failing to yield at a stop sign while driving an electric golf car on a Pittsburg County road. The 33-year-old man had been drinking before the crash, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Lawerence "Matt" Dillard was northbound on Fisher Road just before 8 p.m. when he failed to yield from the stop sign at the intersection with State Highway 9. A 38-year-old Stigler woman, Lawanda Brissette, was westbound on the highway. Brissette swerved to the right to avoid the golf car but hit the front passenger side.

Dillard was thrown about 18 feet from the cart and was taken to the Eufaula hospital where he died from multiple injuries, according to an OHP collision report.

The trooper says there was an odor of alcohol on Dillard's body. The cause of the collision is listed as failure to yield from stop sign.
