Two Tulsans are in jail after police tracked down a man they say tried to run them over with a stolen car. As police recovered the stolen vehicle, they found a meth lab at the man's home Saturday night.
Officers first encountered Justin Dean Schultz, 37, when they responded to a fight in the 600 block of South Atlanta Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. As two officers walked to the residence they had to jump out of the way to avoid a car that swerved towards them as it sped away from the scene, according to an arrest report.
A witness told police the man who left was one of the fighters, and that he had threatened her and her children's lives when she called the police.
Officers discovered that the car that almost ran them down had been stolen. They tracked it down to the 2600 block of East 8th Street. They received a search warrant for the residence and found a gas generator with a bottle and tubing attached to it.
Special investigators were called in, and they identified the equipment as a meth lab. A woman who also lived at the house was questioned. She gave police a false name, but they were able to identify her as Christian Lee Taylor, 32.
Taylor, who police say was convicted of a felony in 2008, was booked on complaints of endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine and false impersonation after a felony conviction.
Schultz also first told police his name was Timothy Davis. He was booked on two complaints of assaulting police officers with a deadly weapon, endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of a stolen vehicle, intimidating state's witness, and false impersonation.
