Two Jaguar cubs at the Tulsa Zoo celebrated their first birthday Monday.
Chac and Kabah were born a year ago and Monday the pair enjoyed a meatloaf birthday cake.
The zoo says Chac and Kabah weigh 100 pounds each. Their mother, Ixchel is a 9-year-old female also located at the Tulsa Zoo's "Tropical American Rainforest."
The Tulsa Zoo says their birth was the result of recommended breeding by the Species Survival Plan which monitors and recommends breeding among threatened and endangered species. Currently, jaguars are classified as near threatened due to their declining numbers.
The Tulsa Zoo will keep Chac and Kabah until the Species Survival Plan recommends breeding transfers so they can help maintain healthy jaguar populations in accredited zoos.
