Thursday Morning Update

The warmer air will remain for the next few days with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 60s along with gusty south winds.  The weather pattern will remain active through part of the weekend with chances for showers and storms. 

The weather yesterday was very nice despite the occasional clouds and gusty winds.  We were able to move into the mid-60s.  The temps will remain mild for the next few days before turning colder early next week.  

A weak west to east boundary is now located just north of OK into southern Kansas and will be a focus for showers and storms to develop near for the next few days.  Moist southerly flow will continue to pump low level moisture back into the region while weak upper level disturbances will move near the state allowing for scattered storm development.  

The timing of the system should allow for dry conditions for most of today, followed by a few spotty showers or storms tomorrow morning and Friday across the area.  Not all locations will experience showers and storms tomorrow during the day, but late Friday night into Saturday morning the low level jet combined with a slightly stronger upper level disturbance will allow for a greater concentration of storms across NE OK.   A few strong storms may produce small hail Friday night into Saturday morning.  

Saturday afternoon we should experience mainly dry conditions but a few spotty showers will still be possible.  However, by Saturday evening another slightly stronger upper air disturbance will finally shove the boundary southward with rain and storms developing into pre-dawn Sunday.  After the early Sunday morning hours, the sky should clear and the precip will be south of the area by the afternoon.  Easter Sunday afternoon should be nice with highs in the upper 60s along with north winds.  The ground may be wet however due to the overnight rainfall.

Early next week a stronger upper level low will approach the area bringing another surface front into the state Monday afternoon with rain and storm chances followed by a robust cool down into the middle part of next week.  Once again, it appears winter could take another run at the state before spring like weather return by next weekend.  Temperatures may start in the upper 40s or lower 50s Monday morning before falling into the mid-40s by the afternoon.  I will use an " inverted " temp profile on the 7 day planner to highlight this scenario.  

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 67 recorded at 4:53pm.

The normal daily high is 66 and the low is 44.

Our daily record high temperature of 90 was recorded on this date in 1963.  The low of 17 was recorded in 1931.
