Police say a drunken man who was stabbed in a domestic dispute was lucky he was found in a utility shed or he might have bled to death overnight.
Shortly after midnight, Tulsa police responded to the disturbance in the 400 block of South 70th East Avenue. The brother of a female adult resident arrived drunk and began picking fights with others in the home, including the woman's boyfriend and some children, police say.
According to Sergeant Justin Farley, the woman's brother assaulted several of those residents, pushing one over a couch. The brother was violent toward the children, and the woman's boyfriend attempted to intervene.
The brother reportedly remained combative and during their struggle, the boyfriend produced a knife and stabbed the assailant twice, causing serious injury. The woman's brother fled the scene, leaving a trail of blood, which police followed unsuccessfully.
Later, the suspect was found bleeding in a utility shed in the backyard of the same house. Police say that had he not been located quickly and treated, his wounds were serious enough he may have died during the night due to blood loss.
"We were lucky we found him when we did," Sergeant Farley said. "We had been searching for probably an hour out here in the cold. I am not sure he would have made it until morning."
EMSA treated the man and transported him. He may face charges of domestic violence according to police.
