The first structural beams went up on what will become the new Joplin High School, Wednesday.
A massive tornado destroyed the school and much of the town nearly two years ago.
A lot of planning and work has gone into this project and crews are putting in long hours to make sure it's finished on time.
"The guys start actually before the sun comes up, and some of them work till it's too dark to work anymore," said Construction Field Manager Brett Yount told KOAM, the CBS affiliate in Joplin.
The Joplin school district hopes to have the building ready for the start of the 2014 school year.
