Editor's note: An earlier version of this story reported that the man's mother was in the truck with him at the time of the crash. That was incorrect. She arrived at the scene shortly after the wreck happened.
A chain link fence is credited with saving a man from serious injury after his truck ran off the Sand Springs Expressway early Friday.
The truck was westbound near 81st West Avenue at 5:30 a.m. when the crash happened.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a the man apparently fell asleep and the truck drifted off the road.
Troopers say the pickup hit a fence which kept it from going into a ditch.
The man's mother showed up at the scene a short time after the wreck and said her son was wearing a seat belt and received only a bump on his head.
The truck was heavily damaged.
