More than bragging rights were at stake in the 11th annual OSU-Tulsa Engineering Design Challenge at the OSU-Tulsa campus on February 21, 2013.
Almost 200 elementary, middle and high school students participated in the challenge which is part of National Engineering Week.
The teams of students tried to build the fastest boat using the same materials.
Led by the OSU-Tulsa engineering faculty, the challenge provides an opportunity for students to apply basic principles of engineering design, problem-solving and teamwork, according to the department.
Dr. Carl Latino, associate professor of electrical engineering, explained to News On 6 photojournalist Chris Howell how the challenge works.
