The ORU Golden Eagles exploded for 54 points in the second half to pull away from the pesky Lamar Cardinals 91-74 Thursday night in Tulsa.
Warren Niles' 33-point night led the way for Oral Roberts while Shawn Glover poured in 24 and nine rebounds. Niles shot 12-24 from the floor and 5-11 from downtown. Glover shot an impressive 11-17 while adding three assists and two blocks.
Niles' huge performance matches his season-high point total which he set against Loyola Marymount back on Nov. 22. It is just the fourth time the senior has reached the 30-point milestone in his career.
Not to be forgotten, Damen Bell-Holter chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds in the winning effort.
Keilan Banks' 25 points off the bench led the way for Lamar (2-17, 0-7) as the Cardinals remained winless in the Southland Conference. Stan Brown led the Cardinals' starters with 18 points while Donnell Minton added 17.
ORU only played seven guys, but both Korey Billbury and Jake Lliteras gave strong performances off the bench. Billbury scored six points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed six boards while Lliteras added five points, two assists and two rebounds.
Lamar actually held the slight advantage in field goal percentage and 3-point percentage, but the Eagles forced 13 Cardinal turnovers while committing just three turnovers themselves.
The win improves ORU to 11-8 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Golden Eagles will host McNeese State Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
