The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team will march in the Martin Luther King Jr. Parade at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Players and cheerleaders will distribute footballs to children along the parade route, which winds through Tulsa's Greenwood Business District.

"The members of this team – players and coaches alike – are proud that Tulsa celebrates the legacy of Dr. King and the many civil rights leaders who have given so much to our city and our country," TU coach Bill Blankenship said. "Many of our young men received a better understanding of Dr. King's life and legacy after visiting the Civil Rights Museum during our recent AutoZone Liberty Bowl trip. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in the parade and to honor MLK Day alongside so many others in our community."

The Golden Hurricane football program is the current Conference USA champion and winner of the 2012 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, which was played Jan. 31 in Memphis, Tenn.
