Students at Broken Arrow's Sequoyah Middle School hope you can help them reach Oklahomans in need.

The school has partnered up with "Move for Hunger" - and set the lofty goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food by October 16th.

More about food drive

Candy Lievsay says when her 6th grade class learned the closest branch was in Lawton, they knew they had to get involved.

"We have many people right here in Broken Arrow that don't have enough to eat: many elderly, many children, many people out of work, looking for work," for Candy Lievsay, teacher.

"We are trying to make not just a little difference, but a huge difference in the hunger problem right in our own back yard."

The food drive will benefit Broken Arrow Neighbors food bank.
