A former Tulsa firefighter has been given a four-year deferred sentence after he pled guilty in August to one count of animal cruelty.

Randy Shipman was charged in April after Broken Arrow Police say he shot and killed a neighbor's dog with a BB gun.

The judge ordered Shipman to pay a $600 fine, court fines and 80 hours of community service with Tulsa SPCA.

Shipman resigned from the Tulsa Fire Department in April.

He still faces a lawsuit filed by his neighbors over the death of the neighbors' dog, a boxer. The neighbors are asking for a jury trial.
