Oklahoma Wildfire Victims Have More Time To Apply For Assistance

Wildfire victims in Creek and Cleveland counties now have more time to file for disaster assistance. The deadline to apply has been extended to Wednesday, November 21, according to a release from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"We want to make sure that all eligible residents have enough time to apply for assistance," said Michelann Ooten, OEM Deputy Director.

November 21 will also be the last day for homeowners, renters and businesses to apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

So far, more than 750 residents in both counties have applied for assistance, and almost $9.8 million in federal assistance has been distributed, according to a news release.

Apply or track status for loans at www.disasterassistance.gov or m.fema.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA or TTY 1-800-462-7585. Phone lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
