A truck driver from Durant was killed after his semi trailer truck ran off the road for an unknown reason Sunday morning in Dewey County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Samuel Tomson, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 34 about four miles north of Leedey.

Tomson was southbound on Highway 34 in a 2003 Peterbilt semi with trailer at about 8:50 a.m. The truck ran off the roadway to the right, veered to the left then rolled one time coming to rest on the right side shoulder, according to a state trooper's report.

Tomson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected about 60 feet from the semi truck, the report states. He died of massive injuries.

The cause of the collision and the driver's condition at the time of the wreck are listed as unknown.
