Senior John David James got the Golden Eagles on the board with seconds remaining in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Oral Roberts men's soccer team fell at Kansas City 2-1.
ORU falls to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return home to begin a three game home stand on next Saturday when they host IUPUI at 7 p.m.
On Oct. 16 they will host Oklahoma Wesleyan before returning to conference action at the Case Soccer Complex on Oct. 20 when Eastern Illinois comes to town.
Already down 2-0, James picked up his second goal of the season on a penalty kick with 15 seconds remaining before intermission.
In the 14th minute, David Sarabia opened the scoring for the Kangaroos converting on an opportunity from Tom McCarthy. With 5:33 remaining on the scoreboard in the half, Jordan Rideout set up the second 'Roo goal, finding Sylvester Yiadom who put the ball in the back of the net.
James' goal was the lone shot on goal in the contest for the Golden Eagles, with the 'Roos closing the match with the shot advantage, 12-7. Gerardo Salas and James each finished with two shots, Cody Lofgren added a shot, while Chris Kroeze and Griffith Pointdexter took a shot each late in the contest.
