A pedestrian was killed Friday night after he was hit by a car while crossing a highway.

The man was struck near 189th East Avenue and Highway 20 in Rogers County, around 10 p.m. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Andy Floyd said a woman was driving westbound on Highway 20 when the man crossed going northbound.

He died on the scene.

Floyd said the driver has two kids in the car with her. No one in the car was injured.

From measurements taken at the scene, the woman was apparently driving within the speed limit, according to the state trooper.

"We're still in investigation, but we don't anticipate any citations being written," Floyd said.

The pedestrian was not carrying identification but was a white male in his 50s or 60s, he said. The body will be taken to the medical examiner's office in Tulsa where troopers will attempt to identify him through fingerprints and dental records, according to the trooper.

"We've had a ton of fatalities right now," said Trooper Andy Floyd. "We urge drivers just to be cautious and aware of what's going on."
