Tulsa is hoping to beef up its tourism industry and now has over $3 million to do it.
Visit Tulsa, a department of the Tulsa Metro Chamber, celebrated the end of its new fundraising campaign Tuesday night at the Philbrook Museum.
The campaign raised over $3 million, which will go towards marketing, improving the Tulsa visitors website, and attracting events and entertainment to the area.
The department said it's been unable to properly promote and attract visitors to businesses that are already here.
"I saw this as an opportunity to make sure we're engaged, and that we're leveraging the investments that have been made between both the public and the private sector," said Visit Tulsa board chair, Steve Bradshaw.
Bradshaw said Tulsa's hospitality industry already generates $160 million per year.
