Some fellow Pirates are setting aside a traditional rivalry to help out their neighbors in need.

Bristow and Mannford schools usually compete for everything - but not on Tuesday.

Fifth graders from Bristow surprised students at Mannford Upper Elementary with friendship packages.

Inside were friendship bracelets, personal letters, and even purple tie-dyed bandanas. Both elementaries have the same mascot, the Purple Pirates.

But students at Bristow say they share a lot more than that.

"When it's on the game, I mean we may be enemies. But out here we're not," said Bailey Ledbetter, a Bristow fifth grader.

"It made me happy that they care about us," said Mannford fifth-grader Shyann Foust.

The Bristow students say they just wanted to reach out, after they saw all the wildfire destruction Mannford students had to endure.
