In an effort get patrons to return overdue books, music and movies, the Tulsa City-County Library says in September they will dismiss any accrued fines as part of its "Bring Back The Books" initiative.
Library officials say the initiative is ahead of a change in the library's fine rates, loan and renewal times.
Effective October 1st, new overdue fine will be 10 cents per day with a $2 maximum. Loan periods for DVD and Blu-Ray will increase to 14 days. DVD and Blu-Ray also will increase to 10 loan items. Customers also can renew an individual item for up to one year, unless there is a hold on that item.
The initiative runs September 1st through the 30th.
Library officials say fines will not be waived include interlibrary loan late fees, library card replacement and replacement costs for damaged or lost materials.
