Body Of Man Discovered Outside Rural Adair County Church

The discovery of a man's body in the parking lot of a rural church in Adair County Tuesday is being investigated by the Adair County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The pastor of the Pleasant Valley Holiness Church, southeast of Stilwell on state Highway 100 called after finding the body Tuesday afternoon.

The OSBI says the victim appeared to have been struck on the head sometime earlier in the day.

A check of missing persons in both Adair and Cherokee counties failed to turn up anyone matching the victim.

The body was sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa to determine the cause and manner of death.
