Allergy Medications, Extreme Heat Do Not Mix

So far this month, EMSA has treated 55 people for heat-related illnesses.

And News on 6's own Rick Wells was one of them. He thought his experience might provide a lesson for others.

Rick went to the Drillers game Monday and found out the hard way that allergy medications and triple-digit heat don't mix well.

"That was the first true reading we had—92 over 52," said Ed McIntyre, one of the EMSA paramedics who treated Rick. That was his blood pressure reading. It was so low they had trouble even finding a pulse.
