The Tulsa Fire Department got a new leader Thursday.
Ray Driskell was sworn in as the TFD's new Chief.
Driskell has been a firefighter since he was 21.
He said becoming chief has always been a dream, and since he has experience in the field, he hopes to improve communication between department leaders and firefighters.
"We're going to continue to have firefighter safety be the No. 1 priority," Driskell said. "That will never change in my tenure. It will always be that way and we will continue to listen to them about things they need to protect the citizens."
Next up for TFD, 23 firefighter recruits will graduate from the academy Friday.
