Kids in Tulsa have a new place to play this summer thanks to some help from Oklahoma's Own.
The Westside YMCA opened its new playground to the public Wednesday.
More than 200 volunteers from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kaboom and Flintco spent the weekend putting the new facility together.
It replaces a 30-year-old playground, and organizers said it should provide a safe place to play for more than 2,000 children.
"We serve in the neighborhood of 300 kids a day in the summer," volunteer Scott Carroll said. "The playground we had was well used, and well worn, but this should serve many kids, not only this summer, but many summers to come."
Right now, organizers said, only one in five Tulsa kids live within walking distance of a playground.
