Authorities have recovered the body of a 25-year-old Tecumseh resident who drowned Monday morning in Lake Eufaula.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the body of Timothy Bills, Jr. was recovered Tuesday morning about 150 yards from shore in the Paradise Point area of Lake Eufaula.

Troopers say Bells was fishing on the shore when the wind caught his boat, causing it to drift away from shore. Bells jumped in the lake and swam after the boat, but went under and never resurfaced.

OHP says Bells was not wearing a life vest.

A search was immediately started with help from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Checotah Police and the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office.
